Did a negative 1 star review on yelp and google review for a local state farm company, those sites are for honest reviews right? they shouldn't be able to sue you for negative true reviews? but saw on the news the other day the that lady was getting sued cause she did a bad review, and law makers are working on it so companies can't sue. local agent was horrible so I had to type it all out on the review sites!

There are people out there who go out of their way to trash companies giving out false reviews. As well as there are companies out there who have friends giving out false positive reviews in order to make them look better. If you can prove this is happening why shouldn't you be able to sue?

Problem with yelp is that in some cases the "Customers" were never customers.

Remember that pizza joint that wouldn't cater a gay wedding? The news went LOOKING for a target and found it. Next thing you knew, the restaurant had a major negative rating all due to FOS and the general witch hunt started by the news.

This is why I don;t put a lot of stock into reviews unless those reviews are ACTUAL customers. Many stores (WinCo, Walmart, Fred Meyer and others) have a "Code" for you to enter to prove you ARE a customer.

Yelp should be like that.

The issue is that companies and hotels are putting into their contract language penalties for giving them a bad review. They'll send you a bill and when you don't pay it, send it to collections.
