My mom is hooked on this channel its been some years and she buys stuff off of there like daily! So frustrating!! Im sure there are other QVC addicts out there!
I think my dad was hooked on it or something like it. After he passed away we found a bunch of unopened boxes in a back room that turned out to contain a bunch of junk like plastic orange peelers, key hooks, furniture sliders and all manner of worthless garbage he probably thought would come in handy 'some day'.
Maybe he was bored, or he didn't know what else to do with his money since he didn't really need anything so he frittered it away on whatever took his fancy. Maybe he was starting to get a little senile or maybe he was conned by some slick talking salesperson on the phone. Don't reckon we'll ever really know.
Maybe a good long conversation with your mom is in order. If she wants to spend money maybe you can get her to spend it on something that will actually benefit her instead of benefiting QVC. Maybe tell her if she stopped buying all that junk she'd have enough money to visit/take a trip somewhere with her kids (you?). Spending time with the kids is usually a pretty good incentive for most moms.
I don't understand anyone getting hooked on that channel. It's a hard sales pitch. It's like willingly listening to used car salesmen in your own living room. I always felt blessed I could keep surfing past them. But, my sister was addicted to it and spent way too much money. They seem to be the kind of people who think in terms of monthly payments, instead of total cost. Wow! It's only $15/month! And the final cost is twice what you could get it for at Walmart.
I have never watch QVC or the other shopping channel, whatever its name is. Just not entertaining to me. When I shop, I look at Amazon, in Walmart. (yes, Walmart)
I have always wondered how the hosts sell some of the products when if you read the reviews it has so many bad ones. Yet they keep telling you how wonderful it is. I guess if you make enough money you can deny, deny deny the reality of the piece of crap.
