I think I was about 16. I had some girlfriend's from Cape Cod at the time(from a biking trip). We had a reunion and met in Greenwhich Village NY and each bought a man's jacket to wear over our jeans. Mine was light blue and I thought I was so cool, lol. Looking back it was kind of ugly

I was a 12 or 13 years old, and my mom refused to buy me jeans for school, and I had to wear hideous clothing such as plaid pants. Can you imagine? Even though this was around 40 years ago, it was still embarrassing. I saved enough lawn mowing money (allowance, ha! kids are spoiled these days) to buy a few pairs of jeans at a local thrift store. I was hooked on jeans from that point on, and when I was able to save enough to buy a new pair of Levis I thought I was in heaven!

I don't remember but chances, it's a shirt or pant when I was a kid. Grew up very poor. My parents don't believe in allowance. I was a slave/free labor for my parents because they said payment was food and roof over my head. To earn money I was a newspaper delivery boy back when kids could deliver newspapers.
This is a great question. In high school, I'd get a couple of dollars from my parents every once in awhile and I'd go to a second hand store to sift through the bins. I got a hand-knit wool fisherman's sweater for about 2 dollars. Wore that thing to death in university. It was extra long. I thought it was my trademark or something. Well, grunge was big, so I don't think it looked *that* peculiar. Ha.
