I was browsing some necklaces online and noticed that the description for one said that it can't be purchased from or shipped to Germany. I'm just curious - would anyone have an idea why that could be? It's understandable that certain food products or chemicals might be restricted in this way but this is a regular mass produced necklace, not rare jewels or anything like that, and why not Germany if it can be shipped to Austria or Venezuela or anywhere else in the world? Any ideas?

Some brands my have certain regional restrictions on their products intended to be sold in specific markets. Brands are free to set restrictions with retailers on where they want their products to be sold, otherwise the store would be violating their resale agreement they have with the brand.

Thank you! Yes, I get it, there are regional restrictions, and I wasn't questioning the brand's rights to do so, but I was curious what could be the reason for singling out one country? It's not the EU in this case, it's just Germany, while the product can be sold to Austria or Italy and any other country.

Is the design of the necklace associate with anything controversial? Germany has strict laws on the importing of certain items that are considered against good public order or a representation of that. And, it just may be because it has something banned in Germany such as a chemical, coating, attachment, product etc that is on their banned list. Although the EU has banned items that all their members prohibit, each county can impose additional restrictions above what the EU bans. So, without actually seeing the item, no way to really know what could be the trigger or if it's due to a prohibition and not a vendor restriction.

What Rabrrita said ^^^.

Also, all products need to comply with the Nickel EU and specific regulations might vary from country to country.
