I have noticed an interesting pattern of differences with Amazon shipments based on when you place the order, specifically with morning vs. evening orders. Here are some differences that I have noticed.
Morning orders have a greater chance of shipping via USPS or UPS (Same-Day Delivery being the exception), while evening orders nearly always ship via Amazon Logistics.
Morning orders are more likely to ship from non-local fulfillment centers (mostly in metropolitan areas that can fulfill the one-day delivery by ground). I presume they want to have enough local inventory for to fulfill evening orders as well as the same-day delivery orders.
Has anyone else noticed a similar shipping pattern?

Virtually all of my orders fulfilled by Amazon, are shipped overnight by Amazon Logistics to my Post Office, and delivered by the USPS the next day.

That is how Amazon's arrangement with the USPS works. That seems to be the second most common shipment method for me after Amazon Logistics delivering themselves. However, if I order late in the evening the delivery is nearly always by Amazon Logistics (assuming the item is available locally). Ordering in the morning makes it more likely that the delivery will be by USPS or UPS and/or that the item will ship from a fulfillment center from outside my local area (such as Tucson, Las Vegas, or the Inland Empire of California). I heard Amazon is also opening a fulfillment center in Albuquerque, so that will be another warehouse to ship from in the future to process morning orders from where I live.

Amazon has nine Fulfillment Centers in Phoenix with I belive 7 of them grouped at Interstate 10 in West Phoenix. Many orders to Nevada comes from Phoenix.
