TKramar ... thanks for the links. I've been out "brick and mortar" shopping and everything I came across was Made in China and none of it is solid wood. I guess I will have to resort to online shopping and maybe take a long weekend trip to NC. Thanks, again.

Well, in my experience, a lot of furniture is pressboard, with a veneer over them.
I've been looking for a bedroom set and it seems they're all Made in China. Is that where all the furniture is manufactured now?
You get what you pay for. If you're looking at cheaper stuff, yeh, it's made in China or pressboard. If you are paying a lot, you can get beautiful stuff (check out Thomas Moser online--beautiful)
I too have been checking labels trying to avoid things made in China, although our most recent purchases were furniture on Overstock and it's made in Malaysia (VERY solid though..).
We have a local store that sells Amish-made furniture that appears to be great quality. The Sauder furniture is heavy but is very solid and reasonably priced.
