Some towns are already putting their Christmas stuff up! Don't you think the hype around Christmas is getting out of control?

I just know that they started with the freight two weeks ago. Christmas lights, ornaments, other decorations.

Yeah, it's annoying but I don't buy into the hype. Say, aren't you Refugee56 aka Dingler aka Goodtype?

they are putting stuff up earlier to artifically lengthen the season because they need retail sales !!! The shorter the season, the less profit. The longer the season the more profit. It's a matter of simple economics. Economists are already predicting a horrible retail sales holiday season since everyone is strapped for cash and the future prosperity of America is not looking so hot. So what do we do ? Let's try to entice them to buy early ! The more shoppers we can get the more money we will make....put up the lights and bows now !

I went into Wal-Mart and seen Halloween, near the garden center and Christmas in the garden center. A big display of supplies for Thanksgiving in the main isle. All 3 holidays crammed into 1. Oh can't leave out Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving sales. I'd say they are really hurting for those $$$$$$$! Three dollar T shirts and shorts left over from summer.

I'm guilty of buying Christmas items back in August. In fact, I've been buying Christmas stuff almost every week (from Ebay, Tuesday Morning, Kmart...you name it.)

They have to start earlier this year. The retailers know it's going to be a bad year.

Doesn't affect me one way or the other.....I officially don't "see" it until the day after Thanksgiving!
