Does anyone out there know any details about the extension of Swan Lake Road in Bossier to Crouch Road in Benton? This has been "supposed to" take place since we moved here in August 2010, and I'm wondering if there are actual plans for this or if this is just a rumor. It would cut our drive to Bossier almost in half, so I'm really hoping this pans out. Any info is appreciated.

The first stage of this process is currently underway, the widening of Swan Lake Road from I-220 to Shed Road. Next will bring the widening and re-aligning of the roadway from Shed Road to I-20/Industrial Drive. Later will come the stage of reconstructing the road beyond I-220 and eventually extending it to Crouch Road in Benton. So to answer your question, no, this is not a rumor, but it is something that will take many years due to the cost of a project of this magnitude.

Well personally, I am retired, just moved to Benton and don't really want the extra traffic on Crouch Road. Sorry "becoming" but I love the country feeling out here and lack of traffic. Baton Rouge traffic was awful and I just don't want to see that kind of growth here.

fbbertusa, you really don't have a dog in that fight. This project has been on the books for many years. You said you "just moved to Benton..." Well, one should do their homework before moving somewhere, especially since the North Bossier/Benton area is the fastest growing part of Bossier Parish. Like it or not, Swan Lake Road and Crouch Road will meet up. Phase II of the Swan Lake Road expansion is set to begin in a few months, which will widen the part through the Swan Lake neighborhood (my old stomping grounds back in the day) and then realign the road, taking it across Meadowview Drive (the street I grew up on) and then across Highway 80, and finally tying it in with Industrial Drive near I-20. This will create a seamless transition from I-20 to Swan Lake Road.

Can anyone tell me, is Crouch Rd set to become 4 lanes in the merger with Swan Lake Rd? Or is it staying @ 2 lanes?
