I've never gotten one, but I worked with somebody who got one in the 90s... it was like $500 and community service back then if I remember what he said.

BTW... he was spinning his tires too. I think the law takes it as racing ... or maybe they're afraid you're going to spin your recklessly, I have no idea. Also, my Versa spins tires in the rain all the time, even with new tires. A Nissan Versa packs all of like 110 horsepower or so...

Reading your story ... where do you live? That is ridiculous...

Maybe I need to own one of these cars. Vehicles I've had that did not have an issue spinning tires on Shreveport roads wet or dry:

505hp Z06 (manual)
350hp Trans Am (manual)
332hp 370Z (manual)
275hp Trans Am (automatic)
242rwhp (dynoed) mustang 5.0 with 4.10 gears and a 3.37 1st. (manual)
225hp Crown Vic P71 Police Interceptor (automatic)
145hp Infiniti G20 (automatic, without LSD, and later once it friend the transmission after a transmission service, LSD replacement. It did help with gravel on side-streets. Other than that, no issue).

My Jeep is AWD, so it doesn't count.

I do not know why this tire spinning is an issue for ANYONE. I used to work for a local Ford dealership and drove all KINDS of cars wet or dry and never had issue there, either.

Let me ask this another way: You're okay with it if the dealership employees spin the tires in your car while pulling it around for an oil change if it's raining, right? I mean...it's normal? Everyone does it?

I'm missing the boat on this one.

I don't know anything about cars. All I know is my Versa spins tires in the ran. Everyone who has driven my car has noticed the same thing. My first car, which was a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, never spun its tires.

To many people are injured by vehicles that lose control.

IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO PROPERLY MAINTAIN YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING.
