No, there is a pot-hole filled road that will take you to Waskom, TX where it smooths out appreciably, and continues on to DFW.

You can catch the AmTrak Texas Eagle.... takes you to Union Station / Downtown Dallas... from there take the TRE (Trinity Railway Express) to CentrePort DFW... then hop the DFW Airport Shuttle Bus.

From Shreveport --you have to take a shuttle van to Longview Amtrak or drive to Marshall, TX and catch the train there.... I think you can catch this at the SHV airport or across from one of the Shreveport Casinos parking garage... check the Amtrak Website. Train & Bus Tickets - National Railroad - USA & Canada | Amtrak

Cost isn't too bad but it's the time-factor.... you can figure it will take at least 4-5+ hours from portal to portal due to train delay, stops, slow-downs, etc. It's not like really-fast.

Good luck.

I did. Knocked my 370Z out of alignment every 10K miles or so on LA roads. Worst I've ever driven or ridden on, and my Dad travelled all over the southern US when I was a kid, taking me with him. You might find some worse in Mississippi, but that's about it. LA is king of building roads (they build a LOT!), and king of roads failing.

The TRE is no longer necessary. There's a direct rail connnection to the DFW Terminal (DFW Airport Station). You can take the blue or red line north from Union Station to West End Station, then take the Orange Line to DFW Airport Station. I did it this past September, and it made the trip a lot more relaxed.

Dallas has really come a long with its light rail, and I mean a long way in the past 15, and even 5, years.

Yikes, I have to drive to DFW from Shreveport after work on a Wednesday night for a late night flight. I hope I won't end up with a flat tire. Is 5 PM early enough to leave for an 11 PM flight out of DFW?

From downtown Shreveport it's just about 20 miles of Louisiana highway before you cross the Texas stateline so don't worry about bad interstate from there on to Dallas as I-20 in Texas is pretty good. Speed limit is 75 until you get close to Canton, TX and it's 65 in to Dallas.
Shreveport to DFW will take you less than 4 hours....closer to 3.5 hours as it's about 215 miles from downtown Shreveport to DFW. Now there may be some construction zones as you pass downtown Dallas so you might check with Tx DOT website about any possible detours or delays. I usually go the Hwy 80 route and take 35E to 183 to DFW South Exit.

Only other thing about heading West on I-20 at 5pm is having the setting sun blast your eyes all the way... better have a good pair of sunglasses.
