The Sportsman's Warehouse location has many different possibilities but would be good for two businesses to locate or something like a Dick's Sporting Goods to move in.
KELO last night had an article about Century Theaters building an east-side location in Dawley Farm next to the new Target and Kohl's will likely start their construction this coming summer. There is a bank that has plans on building there. The momentum is going on the east side but will take a little time before one really notices the changes.
Wish they would shut their parking lot and building exterior lights off during the day time.... wasting alot of electricity while many of us are trying to save our natural resources and cut down on carbon emmisions. I havent counted the lights and have noticed some of the parking lot ones are burning out but they have been on 24 - 7 since I first noticed it last month.... Im guessing they are at least 25 lights consuming between 250 and 400 watts each, makes it pretty pointless for me to try and save any...
I have put 13 watt compact flourescents in almost every fixture in my house, So I can turn every light on in my house and still use less than one of those parking lot lights in an empty lot at high noon.
I have heard of the HOM furniture and Buffalo Wild Wings going into the old Sportsman's warehouse building. The third business is a mystery to me. It is good to see that building get used. I am excited about the restaurant part, since the restaurant's only location is super busy and tougher to get into.
It is a positive step for Sioux Falls and we do not have as much of the vacant space problem as other parts of the country. I have been to a conventional shopping mall in the eastern part of the US and it was 2/3rds empty in the space not occupied by main tenants (Dick's Sporting Goods, JC Penney, etc.).
It also sounds like a new building is being built in the old Randall's Foods parking lot that now houses Holz Haus and Pizza Ranch. This building is going to offer more retail/restaurant space along an already busy stretch of 41st Street.
