*sigh*
The typical stereotypes and unfair labels of sports in America:
Football = Highly dangerous, played by dumb, misogynistic Neanderthals who are guaranteed to have concussions by the age of 40.
Basketball = Ignorant thugs and selfish divas who put themselves above the team.
Baseball = 'roided up whites and Latinos playing a boring game favored by old people.
Hockey = Toothless, ultra violent Canadians playing a game that's exclusive only to people with lighter pigment...
I can go on. It doesn't just stop at the Big Four.
EVERY sport has it's detractors, so stop acting like poor little soccer is treated the most unfairly here. Hell, pro wrestling has it FAR worse than anyone in the unfair stereotype department.
What? Are you going to really compare the tongue in cheek stuff like that and the ridiculous anti soccer rants that mirror more of a john birch society conspiracy theory by rabid baby boomers in the media? The odd coverage that treats the sport as though it's something peculiar and still foreign even though for the past decade it's the fastest growing sport among young people? Apparently the media has yet to catch up with the reality on the ground.
And wrestling? You had to bring wrestling into this? Oh pleads just stop

"Tongue and cheek", huh?
The NHL is one of the "Big Four" in this country. How much do you hear about it? Could you name 8 teams who made it to the playoffs this year without Googling it?
Lebron James and Dwyane Wade are loving, caring fathers who took less money than they could have had to build the current team they have, yet they're constantly labeled as "thugs" and/or "selfish, boastful superstars".
Baseball tends to get the "boring" label just as much, if not, MORE than soccer and that's America's Past Time.
I haven't even gotten into NASCAR, the WNBA, Golf, Tennis, and other sports... but SOCCER is the only sport that gets the unfair treatment because it's not 'murican enough, right?
These posts of yours are starting to come off as a bit whiny. There are people who hate soccer, but don't act like it's the ONLY sport that receives the hate. And don't act like it's the only sport that gets unfair treatment just because of a FEW idiots or misconceptions. You realize how many mothers are considering keeping their sons away from football?

Yes I did... and why not? What, the WWE doesn't have the same amount of athleticism and physical demand that a New York Giants receiver would need? Those guys and girls aren't exactly built like marshmallows, you know. Well, for the most part.
What conservative commentators are declaring hockey to be a plot by liberals to wussify nation?
What sport are crazy moms talking heads trying to change because it "breeds too much violence" ?
It's a two way street, you just only want to see things your way. You are calling everyone trolls because they don't agree 100% with what you say.. you're kind of the most close minded person on here.
It was growing even before the WC even started. Do you not see how you anti soccer types are deluded? It's popularity is not trailing track and field, its comparable to hockey at the closest, and growing.
Just give it up. This isn't just a bandwagon, Miracle on ice type of thing. Its a growing trend that will just keep escalating. It's not a staple of American sports yet and still has a long way to go but my point was that its unfairly maligned in the media (or was). Hockey is respected and nothing as vicious as it bring a foreign invader has been said about it. That was my point.
But the OP is flawed, it's like saying more people saw Aston Eaton win the Olympic Decatholon than the MLS Championship therefore Track> Soccer which is not true in popularity
