Hey everyone. Last year I started a thread about the best products to be found at Trader Joe's. That thread has really helped me, and hopefully others, save time and money by highlighting the really good products. I'd like to do the same thing with Aldi. I've found some real hits ...and some REAL misses there. I'd like to hear what others have found.

I really like:

Red pepper/tomato soup
Chunky pasta sauce (the one with NO sugar in the ingredients list)
Frozen King Crab legs (my favorite find there)

The unfortunate thing is that, like with the crab legs, they may have only had that one special shipment.

Are there any worthwhile wines there?
Do you find that different Aldi's in SC feature different products or is it all about the same?
Is Aldi worth you time as a weekly grocery stop?

No. I tried it a few times and found it was almost completely store brand items. Also, the registers were not well staffed any of the times I was there so the wait was long. Then trying to get past everyone crowded by the exit bagging their own items was a pain.

I am pretty sure I used up whatever I saved at Aldi in gas and extra time going to a regular grocery store to backfill what I could not get at Aldi. They do have good prices on most items but not that much better than the regular store onthe items I compared. There are some things just not worth saving a couple bucks. It is kind of like watching people drive 8 miles down from NC, wait in line for 10 minutes to gas up and drive 8 miles back to NC to save $2 on a fill up.

If they started carrying a better selection, I would try again but given the small store size, I don't think that is possible. They seem to be doing fine without my business though so apparently some people can get all their shopping done there.
