There is no "TECH" sector in South Carolina that is like Silicon Valley if that is what you are asking. If you want that, I would suggest Houston, Atlanta, Denver, Raleigh, Seattle or Austin but Software Engineers are hired anywhere. It is the new accounting if you asked me. There are plenty of IT jobs in South Carolina just like any other state.

The growth in Charleston is exploding compared to silicone valley which is shrinking. Here's more to explain why:
Last I read (and I'm not in the tech sector so I don't read up constantly on it) we had over 150 start-ups in the past two years. Not bad for a city with a 75,000 pop.

Charleston, has a nice size "TECH" sector but a lot of places have great tech sectors as well. Software engineering is a career that can exist anywhere. In terms of "Silicon Valley", the name was given for companies invested in manufacturing silicon into useable chips for electronics. I dont know of any companies in Charleston like that. Atlanta and Raleigh have this.

Atlanta and Raleigh, neither of which are in SC. Don't see how it applies to the OP's question.

I think JasonTy is just stating that the tech sector in Charleston is very small. The links you posted are good Chamber of Commerce material but overstate the tech sector in Charleston. I think the OP wants an honest answer.
ATM there are around 5k dedicated tech jobs, however, there are plenty of start ups and Benefitfocus has plans to add almost 1,500 to its staff. That being said there are plenty of companies looking for more people.
