We are looking to buy in Bluffton, SC in Hampton Lake or Hampton Hall. Have visited several times and stayed at Hampton Lake and loved it. But it seems that you get more square footage for your money at Hampton Hall. Not sure of how the financial stability of the two compare, were told by a resident that he has great confidence in the people running the place...including the Board and Reed, the developer. Real estate sells so fast at HL I know....
We are a retired couple who are active and love the water. But aren't golfers. Is Hampton Hall geared more toward golf? Seems like there may be more younger families at Hampton Hall....? Always thought Hampton Hall is much larger, but Hampton Lake has new phases planned in the future, one just opened...Hampton Hall is more established. (We would want to be in the first Phase of Hampton Lake to avoid some of the construction around us.)
Any comments, especially residents of either community? Much appreciated.

We visited both in July. Both are wonderful; I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

My take on it was that HH is more of a golf-oriented "Club" atmosphere whereas HL is more of resort-style community. Did you hear they're installing an alligator-free swimming hole in the new section (something about special fencing)?

We prefer Hampton Lake because we aren't golfers and we're leery about the financial future of golf course communities. HL is currently at the top of our list.

We purchased a lot at Hilton Head Lakes. While there is a golf course, it is operated separately and not part of HOA dues. The community is still being built, but it is a debt free community. We are hoping to build within the next 2 years.
