Thinking of retiring and relocating between Charleston and Savannah. Hampton looks interesting any opinions- good or bad please. Will look for 3 bed 2 bath min - $400k. Thanks.

I don’t live there but have driven through several times. Miles and miles and miles of open farm fields and forests dotted by very small towns. If you’re looking for space, you’d find it and $400k will buy a very nice house, given realtor sites say the average house is in the $180k range.

If you are looking for any amenities other than a dollar general and a gas station, Hampton isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for wide open space and cheap property but don’t mind a 30 - 40 minute drive for groceries, shopping or dining, Hampton will suite you.

Hampton looks interesting to me. It seems quiet and peaceful. Would they be open to outsiders?

Boston to Hampton would be quite a culture shock.

You really need to visit SC for a couple weeks . . .
