I had seen some predictions Clemson's recruiting would fall off due to NIL.
Nope. They were number 3 in recruiting briefly. Regardless it looks like they're going to bring in a strong class. There is still time left to see how things shake out.
Clemson got a commit from a 5 star defensive line player in Alabama last night. That last time Clemson got a top recruit out of Alabama, they won the natty with him as a freshman.
I hope Clemson sticks with the ACC. Part of the fun of Clemson is beating the SEC and Big 10 teams as an ACC team. I feel like Clemson will be giving up their David vs Goliath vibe if they join a stacked conference trying to rig the playoffs. I'd rather bust through the wall than be another brick in the wall.
I took a ride up to Clemson today to check out what's going on since I last visited. I've heard all kinds of reasons, usually from opponents of Clemson on why it was done after NIL. Despite being in the ACC, having a campus in the northwest corner of rural SC; and losing coordinators it's still recruiting like crazy. I had to go see what keeps bringing them to Clemson despite NIL. Lots of construction going on up there on new facilities.
I think Clemson's location next to a lake near the Blue Ridge is a big reason why it has been able to recruit well outside of the state. It is pretty unique even on a national level.

Yep, but it's always had that. All of these top 10 recruiting classes started after Dabo took over. It's more than just the location.
Keep in mind that Dabo taking over coincides with the rise of social media which helps Clemson advertise. And we've had coaches in the past who were not great salesmen like Tommy West.
I was wearing a Clemson t-shirt on a hike in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah last week. A Ohio Stat grad approached me and said she and her husband had recently checked out Clemson on the way back from visiting relatives in Atlanta. She was gushing over the campus and the setting.
