Anybody else loose power? Been out here for close to 6 hours.

Luckily I have a generator for my travel trailer and have been using it for the last 4 hours to power the house.

Got power back five minutes after midnight.

Hearing today several people had water damage in their basements because no power for the sump pump.

I got very tired of this over the years as my house is susceptible to basement flooding. A couple of years ago I installed a 3 sump pump configuration, all in the same sump hole.

The lowest pump always runs on one circuit. If this one fails by either burning out or via a circuit shutdown a backup that's on a different circuit kicks in. If this doesn't happen due to a total power outage a 3rd sump pump run on trickle charge battery power kicks in. It can run for approx. 5 hours giving you time to either have a 2nd battery charged or to connect a portable generator.

I'm on Sioux Valley Energy on edge of SF. My lights dimmed a few times but no power loss. Fortunately, the way my lot (former farmland) was "sculpted" by the builder, I almost never hear my sump pump run. My next door neighbor downhill from me is in a different situation.

Once i got out of my newer neighborhood, I was surprised at the amount of tree damage in the more established neighborhoods. Did an Arby's run in the late afternoon, and just on my short drive, I saw 2 trees down in the road blocking passage. Plus another big one down in someone's yard. My house is only 9 yrs old, so my trees are not that big yet. But I thought the maple I could see out my LR window was going to break in half. It looks like the trees out my way were small enough to still be pretty flexible, so not much damage. I was happy that the shingles on my roof didn't get rolled up like that May storm.
