The cosmic ocean is almost endless. Distance is measured in the time it takes for light to travel in one year. Light could travel for billions of years and still keep going enormous distances. Galaxies are born, live and die. All stars eventually die. This is all held together by gravity. It would only be logical to belive that other life has elvoled in consciousness and some matter of understanding.

It is possible that there are other worlds containing life that are hundreds of billions times smaller than an atom. These worlds could contain intelligent matter that has grown to consciousness on a much smaller scale than we can imagine. Filled with organic molecules.

Short answer: Yes.

There's no reason to believe that intelligent life somewhere else in the universe must conform to humanity's presumptuous idea of what is needed to create life.

Or, conversely, the entire visible universe could be a single cell in some unimaginably large living organism, watching TV with a can of Duffs.

If we ever make contact with them, we need to try to figure out a way to sell them weapons and Mcdonalds hamburgers.

I've always thought that people who believe we humans are the singular miracle of intelligent life in the universe have either no grasp of how large the universe is in size and time or they have no understanding of probability. There are simply too many galaxies, stars, and time for there to be only one example of intelligent life in all the universe's 14 billion years of existence.

If the size of the universe with all the stars and galaxies it contains that have been created and destroyed over billions of years doesnt blow your mind, you haven't yet realized the true scope of things. To say the visible universe is large is an understatement.

Possible, but not probable.

Just how egotistical is it to think we are the only intelligent life in the Universe?

The concept that we are the only intelligent life is on par with the people who say "we have uncovered almost all there is to know about the Universe"

These idea's from a race that can't cure the common cold nor stop killing their fellow man because they don't think the way they do....

Imagine..... worlds with no McDonalds.... no income tax..... no advertisements on web pages.. Worlds where global warming is fact not fiction....
