V.L.T. Survey Telescope, The Largest Visible Spectrum Telescope, Snaps It's First Images. (Milky Way, universe)

The Very Large Telescope (Survey Telescope) V.L.T..... also known as V.S.T......is a new 8.5 foot telescope boasting a 268 Megapixel camera.

It is now the largest exclusively visible spectrum telescope in the world. Over the next 5 years it will make 3 surveys of the Southern skies focusing on:

(1) Dark Matter and Galaxy evolution.

(2) Dark Energy

(3) The structure of the Milky Way's galactic disc.

Roughly 30 Terabytes of data will be released to the public each year.
