Washington State University astrobiologist Dirk Shultz-Makuch has devised a rating system called the Planetary Habitability Index that measures distant worlds suitability for any kind of life.

Habitability Index Rating Example

Earth ......... 0.96
Titan ......... 0.64
Mars .......... 0.59
Gliese 581D . 0.43
Kepler 22 .... 0.43

Thoughts about his rating system and/or any other planets or moons out there anyone wants to add?

This rating/index could only use *earth* as a base line, so why not 100%
I wonder what the author is using as a base line ?

One more totally un-redeeming bit of info ...

Good point.

I'm curious as to why he omitted Europa from his first five?

...Planetary Habitability Index that measures distant worlds suitability for any kind of life.

An alien form of life could be poisoned by oxygen from what we know, that would make Earth much lower than 0.96.

Uhuh
If the oxygen would poison life, then the index would be zero point zero ...

Still want to know which place would be 1.0 ???

I am not disputing anything ...
