On 12th Avenue travel West of Evergreen; one of the few places you live above the Valley floor in the Valley. Look North. It is a beautiful view. When there's snow, you may think you are in Aspen, BC, Alberta, maybe even Scandinavia.

South Hill snobs. Indeed. As if Slumkane near do wells mean much on a grander scale.

The apartments are pretty concentrated by Fourth and Sullivan and there are issues with that. So I wouldn't commit to anything too long term.
Yeah, a nasty area. Sullivan Court Apartments may be the best in the area, or some or the complexes well East of the complexes right on 4th Ave and Sullivan. A lot of welfare won't do suckers and druggies. There is a complex that is North on Conklin from the 4th Ave and Conklin intersection on the East side. A Douglass Properties place that looks nice yet may be a wee bit pricey.

Thoroughly investigate a complex of interest. See if you can check the place on, say, a Friday eve. Do you smell cigarette smoke, or marijuana smoke (as I did many times), and worse? Foot pounders above you and door slammers next to you. Ask them to be quiet and they forget you tomorrow or so.

I am also planning a move to Spokane Oct/Nov, with my 3 children in tow. Hopefully we will be able to visit in Spetmeber, but so far I am also operating off internet research alone. [mod]links to competing sites not allowed[/mod] And also you can check out greatschools.com to see how different Spokane schools stack up and then search first apartments by zip.

Good luck!

Yes this is a Douglass Property. I believe it's called The Reserve at Shelley Lake. Pretty typical new build with an inclination toward the upscale demographic. I'm not sure of prices, but I'm sure they are up there. It's in a very nice location. Close to Sullivan, but not too close.
