Congrats. That will certainly make your commute to campus much easier than if you were in Spokane. If one is unsure about using Craigslist you can always confirm the landlord is indeed the owner by checking online with the county property records.

I just wanted to post a quick update on my rental hunting odyssey. I was able to find a house that meets our needs in Medical Lake from a private landlord on Craigslist. The rent starts from June, so a little bit early for us, but it will allow me to enroll the kids in school in advance, so I don't have to worry about the school not having room for them. It looks like a small, laid back community, and the house is close to parks and lakes.

Congrats, Rumi! I think I may have found a place in upper South Hill... I'll know by Thursday. Same situation, though, renting in June but I'm not moving till August.

Thank you! I checked few weeks ago before signing the lease. It's a good information to keep in mind but also unreliable because most of the child molesters and abusers are people who are never registered as such. Huge amount of child sexual offences go unreported because of cultural norms, stigma, and just the nature of the abuse.
I teach my boys personal safety, good touch/bad touch, and hope that we won't have to deal with such situations. I hope we have a good enough relationship that they will tell me if anyone ever made them feel uncomfortable in their presence. They are also aware of risk factors, child abuse and sexual predators. I am a social worker and child therapist, so I've seen too much pain unfortunately.

The people feeling the pain ought to be the perpetrators, who belong in prison, in fear for their lives, instead of living in subsidized housing in our neighborhoods, zonked out on drugs.
