A typical track is about .25 of a mile. 4 laps sounds correct

If the track is marked out for the 400 meters, then 4 laps would be a mile.

Shouldn't this be in the math forum?

Is this a serious post?

If the track is build to be a quarter mile then, indeed, four laps would equal a mile.

I still want to know if your serious.

Yes this is a serious question.
Why would you think otherwise?

Because it's a dumb question. This is the oddest thread I have ever seen. Why ask such a question.

Ask the question, "Is the track 400 meters?". If the answer is yes then the track is really a mile when you go around it 4 times. IF the answer is no then it would be false.

Why is this a dumb question? Perhaps the OP wants to run some laps around the track and wanted to kinow if it really is a 1/4 mile around so he can mark how far he has run.

4 laps is 1600 metres.
One mile is 1609.344 metres.
Or 1760 yards.
Or 5280 feet.

It would be best to drive your car around the track 4 times to get the true answer. Make sure you jot down the mileage first as I always forget to do that step when I'm guessing distances in these instances.
