surprised ESPN would write a thing like that - maybe they've written him off so much that they don't care anymore - he (TW) has been pretty good to ESPN over the years
I think Tiger created his own competition. Before him, how many people were in excellent physical shape? Sure, there were some, but not near as many as there are now. Now that most of the PGA players have caught up, he can't afford to play at 80% of his ability. It'll put him right out of contention. I think it was bound to happen at some point but he really made it happen.
I can't argue that Tiger is a great golfer. He changed the face of golf, brought in new fans, improved viewership numbers, etc. I never liked the fact that it seemed like most of the coverage was about him. I suppose that was the networks catering to the audience.
I wouldn't mind him getting his game back up to speed, but I don't see him getting any more majors. I think the competition is too strong now. And I really don't think other players "fear" him like they used to.

We agree. He has not won a major in 7 years. A player who was going to win 18 or 19 and had 14 in June, 2008 would have found a way to win 1 every 3 years or so. Rory and Jordan and other young players who have joined the since 2008 are now serious obstacles. Tiger has lost the last 7 years which are ages 33-39 which are prime years for most players. Now at age 39 and older he has to face the strong fields now and almost needs 1 major every 2 years and he has not shown the ability to do that, yet.
