So one common story that pops up is a local team in a pro sport trying to get a new stadium built. If others are interested, we could discuss any stadium being proposed or under construction now. We can also discuss the struggles of some cities or teams in being able to get financing or votes to build a new stadium.
Under Construction
- Minnesota / U.S. Bank Stadium / 2016
- Miami / Sun Life Stadium / 2016 (renovation, roof added)
- Atlanta / Mercedes-Benz Stadium / 2017

- Buffalo / possible downtown stadium
- L.A. / Inglewood (most likely for the Rams)
- L.A. / Carson (planned to be shared by Chargers and Raiders)
- San Diego / TBD
- St. Louis / open-air, riverfront stadium near downtown
- Oakland / TBD
- Washington D.C. area / TBD
Under Construction
- Sacramento / Golden 1 Center / 2016
- Detroit / Detroit Events Center / 2017

MLB
Under Construction
- Cobb County (Atlanta) / SunTrust Park / 2017
- Chicago / Wrigley Field / renovation, 2016
Proposed
- San Jose / Cisco Field (A's Ballpark) / officially dead
- Montreal / rumored
- St. Petersburg / New Rays Ballpark / ? (has been proposed for several years now)
Soccer specific stadiums proposed or are under construction in the following cities:
- Washington (D.C. United)
- Orlando
- Miami (TBD)
- L.A. (L.A.F.C., TBD)
- Indianapolis (Indy Eleven as possible expansion for MLS)
- San Antonio (Scorpions FC as possible expansion for MLS)
I didn't even realize there were rumors of a stadium being built in Montreal. It is definitely necessary for MLB to consider returning baseball to that city though.

I don't think there are any serious rumours about a new baseball stadium in Montreal.
The City of Raleigh about a year ago presented a long-term vision plan for the Downtown area. One of those plans was the possibility of a new sports arena. This would be the new home of the Carolina Hurricanes, but would also probably serve as the entertainment venue of the area. It would also play host to NCAA tournaments.
While nothing is currently in the works, this will likely gain steam in the next 5-10 years as a proposal.
