In your opinion, are players from the ghetto more talented? To me, players from the ghetto are more talented because athletics is their way out of the hood, so they work hard to be the best so they can get themselves and their loved ones out of the inner city. Some of the greatest athletes have come out of the hood, but a lot of pressure is put on them by the community because in the hood's eyes, if he makes it, they all make it.

They are more talented because of the effort they put in.

A middle class white kid knows he is going to college with or without a scholarship.

There is no connection between environment and raw talent. Now if you look at College or Pro Football the majority of blacks do come from a lower income up-bringing, however the opposite is true among Basketball. Majority of them come from middle class on up. There was a time when many of them came from the inner-cities, but not anymore.

Also keep in mind success or development in many sports excluding Football, comes more from the travel programs they participate in rather then High School. The cost to participate in those programs at the premier level can be very expensive leaving out many from lower income households.

This. My son’s club soccer runs roughly $4,000/year. Lower income kids are often cut out from the opportunity to play at the higher levels due to this.

I would say they just work harder at their craft and have more character. All the Hall of Fame NBA and NFL players had humble beginnings--notice no Rockerfellers, Hiltons, or Trumps. There's definitely something to it.
