like during the Olympics, why do the american gold medalists feel emotional during the anthem? is it because of pride, etc?

same reason gold medalists from other countries feel emotional, they won on the biggest stage for their sport for their country. are you telling me that if you competed in an olympic event, and won the gold medal that you would not be emotional at the ceremony?

Of course it is and they should feel proud to represent our country. It shows we are a country of feelings for each other and where we have been raised. These young people have spent years and thousands or dollars to get to where they are. They are thankful for the opportunity to represent our country.
