Rich Strike was definitely up in his muscles and running hot after that race. He probably needed a bit more time to calm down - or the crowd noise and all the activity stressed him out.

To an outsider (and I am one) the outriders actions probably looked much worse. In the end, it was his responsibility to get that horse under control. I don't approve of his technique necessarily, but I wasn't there.
3 million was the total purse. The Rich Strike camp earned $1,860,000.00.

But add a lot more for future breeding. Keen Ice's breeding fee will also go up from the $7,500.00 that it was/is.

And I heard he was nearly lost in a barn fire that killed over 20 other horses. The legend grows and grows! I can see the movie now...

The fire was in 2016. Rich Strike was born April 25, 2019.

That's Keen Ice. I pointed that out in post #31.

I remember him. He was only 3-24 but always raced in graded stakes races and always gave his all.

For keeping their horse and rider, and all the other horses safe and under control when Rich Strike is acting like a 3 year old stallion who was biting him and his horse?

The pony rider knows what he's doing. No horses were hurt and he stayed under control.

Rich Strike is certainly already over it. Next race, the pony rider will probably be wearing kevlar.

Question on the betting odds as I could not find anything about a 'maximum' payout and I am not familiar with Horse racing. There were some long odds due to Rich Strike winning, especially in the trifecta and super fecta. I heard it reported this morning that over $283 million was placed in bets.

If someone had placed a $100 wager on the trifecta (Rich Strike, Epicenter, Zandan) and the super trifecta (Rich Strike, Epicenter, Zandan, Simplification) would they actually have received payouts of $1.487 million and $32.15 million respectively?

Curious as to how this is handled from a mathematical perspective. Is there a betting limit? Is there a stated maximum payout limit? How does this work?

... except The Great One ran it over three seconds faster.
Still, a great race considering the 21st post position!

The Great One didn't have to cover an extra mile weaving in and out of traffic!

When a horse breaks one of the records for the triple crown then you can say his name in the same sentence as Secretariat.
.. who holds ALL THREE.
