I would hate the Rays to move there, Tampa Bay has a lot of baseball fans. Everyone goes to the baseball games, since football games in TB and basketball games in Orlando are more expensive.
And I live near SF, where they have every sport, so can't complain. A GOOD football team nearby might be nice though lol
Do you follow the Rays? You can not seriously think that the bolded part of your statement is true.
I went to Rays games when I was in Tampa, and I think it is a shame that they dont draw better...that said, now Im in Charlotte, so moving them here would be great...for me!
That said, I would really like to see the Tampa Bay area support the team better...has anyone said if they will move the team across the bay to Tampa and out of St Pete?
NFL
3. Omaha, NE- Just like Oklahomans, Nebraskans love their football. More than 1 million people call the Greater Omaha area home, and it would draw support from Lincoln and all over the state, and Iowa.
Omaha's MSA (886K) or CSA (922K) + Lincoln (310K) is the only way that greater Omaha reaches 1 million+. You can't then add Lincoln again as an additional draw. It's just too small to support an NFL team. Given the frenzy of support for Nebraska's football team, do you really think that these people will double dip and support an NFL team too? It's doubtful if you ask me.

Probably not despite the whiny Tampa contingent that says driving to St Pete is a hassle for them, and never mind it would be the reverse for St Pete/Clearwater should they move to Tampa, since they make up nearly half of the metro area. The fact of the matter is transplants in Florida (there are many of them) despite living in FL for many years, won't support local teams which while crummy helps explain how Florida isn't a hot bed for pro sports.
I go to 20-30 games as season. Can't blame people for not going to games......when 99% of the games are televised, there's really no reason to go to the Trop - too bad they built a stadium away from the heart of the population....games are over at 10:30 pm, sometimes later - and the 1-1/2 hr commute gets working people home too late. Maybe next time they'll build something in a better location.
