You are going to need to get more specific with your question. Why Pomona, particularly? It is not incorporated, it is just an area on the map. I am not even sure what school system serves the area.

West Plains is a very nice town and could be a great place to retire if you like small, close-knit communities. And if you want to live in a more rural setting, the Pomona area is as good as any, I guess.

Lot of nice subdivisions closer to West Plains, K and CC highway areas especially. Unless I was buying a farm or large parcel of land I can't think of any reason to be in Pomona. A few factories, convenient store and some trashy looking places from the highway, JMHO.

As someone who lives in a house visible from the highway, I take exception to your statement. Our home is NOT trashy.

Nu2pomona, I apologize, I didn't mean EVERY house looks trashy in Pomona. Unfortunately though, there are "some" which make for an eyesore when passing through, or at least did the few times I was on 63 just to the east of the bridges. Maybe they have been cleaned up. I didn't mean to imply that about every property and I am sorry.
