I got accepted for a position at the USMCFP and will be moving in a couple months, how are the neighborhoods in that area and what is the average cost for rent (3br+)? Do houses have basements there or are they built on slabs like Texas?

Assuming you are talking about the Federal Medical Center Prison, there are neighborhoods to suite pretty much every budget within easy driving distance. Three bedroom houses are clustered around $800-$900/mo., but check padmapper for a better picture. Slab construction is very rare here. Basement houses are available, but you likely will be at $1000/mo plus.
