I was told that there's a shuttle bus/van that runs hourly, between Vegas and St. George. Is that correct? If we flew into Vegas, is the shuttle to St. George caught right at the airport? Would it be cheaper to take the shuttle from Vegas to St. George and then rent a car, or rent a car at the Vegas airport instead of St. George? We are thinking of visiting St. George in Oct. or Nov. Thanks.

The drive from Vegas to St. George is very easy. The rental car building in Vegas is maybe less than a mile from I-15. It is very is to get on and off when renting a car there. With that being said you also may want to look into flying directly into St. George Airport (SGU). If you time it right you may be able to get a decent fare. I was lucky enough to get a $300 fare (roundtrip) from Chicago/St. George next month. The only drawback is that I have a 3 hour layover in SLC on the way out. I would much rather do that than have to hassle with getting a car, drive 90 minutes each way, etc.

FYI....This will be my first time flying into SGU. I hope it's a good move. The price was right. LOL

Good luck!

Thanks. I'll check into that. We would need a rental car anyway once we got to St. George. I was curious if there was a big price difference between getting the rental in Vegas or St. George.

The only differences I found was that a) there aren't as many companies to pick from, and b) the company I went with would not accept any discount coupons at "this location." I still feel I am ahead by not having to drive the extra 90 min each way. Even though it is a pleasant drive, It is much more relaxing to NOT have to do it.

We shall see.

There is a substantial airport tax on car rentals at Las Vegas Airport. Be sure to check it out before you decide.

Best way to avoid the tax is to rent a car off site.

I live outside of St. George and used the shuttle scottienorman linked to go to Las Vegas recently and absolutely loved it. Was able to relax in comfort and enjoy the scenery going thru the Virgin River Gorge (which can be a harrowing drive!) and not worry about negotiating Las Vegas traffic, which can be overwhelming. I don't know what the rental price differences are, but the transition would be worth a few extra dollars! I did pay a little extra for the executive shuttle, worth it!

I didn't realize you could fly directly into SGU. Is that out of OHare or Midway.
I live in Bartlett and fly into LV and drive up.
