hello,

I'm wondering if it'll be a good idea to visit Zion National Park this Thanksgiving break.

I'm going to have 5 off days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday) and I was planning on driving to Vegas after work (On Wednesday, Nov 22nd), sleep there, then head over to the park. I'll spend 3 nights there then come back to Vegas/LA.

I'll be driving.

Is it gonna be too cold? Is the park gonna be open? it'll be my first time in the area.

It's kind of hard to say for sure, as I suspect you already realize. Temperatures in Zion are typically in the lower 50s at that time of the year. That would be too cold for me to enjoy the park, but probably just perfect for someone else. The extended forecast right now is for it to be a bit warmer than average, but how accurate that forecast is is anyone's guess.

Chilly brisk weather during the day and cold at night. If you plan on staying at a motel or cabin in the area that's one thing, tent camping with expected lows hovering around 34 degrees is quite another. With the right equipment you could be comfortable, otherwise not so much.

It's a holiday. Make sure you have a place to stay. Zion and Springdale are most likely already heavily booked/booked out.
