But again, a school is just a tool in the world. It's more or less your networking and work ethic that will take you places. I think it's a great undergrad if you are going to grad school of some sorts.
What does #1 over performing university even mean?

Where you go to college matters. Of course networking and work ethic can take you places but there's tons of research that shows that graduates from top tier universities get better jobs and make more money initially and during their lifetime than graduates from mediocre universities.

Reputation-wise, SLU also is very dependent on the department.
There are some really bad departments at SLU; much higher variability than you would commonly find at a school at its level.

It means that the college does much better for its students than its ranking allows. The problem with the so-called high ranked big universities, like Wash U and Harvard, is that their rankings are skewed by alumni givings and things like that. It also means that you are given more opportunites than it should have like Edward Jones and Rawlings internships. They also have a study abroad program at Oxford University.

Yeah, where you go to college does matter, but the list simply reflects that these colleges give you more than you think.

And were you go to college matters depending on whether or not you go to grad school or not. That'll make a huge difference too. I'd say if you are going to a smaller college, then you definitely need to go to a good grad school.

And it's not as simple as going to a a "top tier university" as many have made the mistake of doing this, only to find they did not network.

I'm just saying a name alone is something you can't base it off of. I can certainly go to Yale and drop out and end up working retail.
