Hi all,

I am going to San Francisco for four days over labor day weekend. I need somewhere to board my dog but am fairly nervous about it because of horror stories about kennels in general. I was just looking for some advice about good kennels. I live just above Tower Grove Park but I can drive a little ways if it is really worth it for my dog to be in a nice place. Thanks.

Back when I had pets (prior to 2004), I used Kennelwood several times (the Page/Lindbergh location) and was very pleased. I don't know if their reputation or customer satisfaction has changed since then. Good luck!

We just moved to the area, but our dog is doing daycare 2x a week to get to let her run some energy off. The place we found that we like (so far, in our two weeks) is Dog Gone Furbabyz located in Soulard. They do daycare and overnight boarding. I believe they require a vaccination list and a behavior assessment (drop dog off for a couple of hours) before they accept, but I may be wrong there. The staff seem very professional.

We used the Salty Dog on Manchester in Brentwood - they take the dogs down to Pacific Animal Hospital for extended (1+ day) visits, which is a hike, but the staff there is awesome.
