I'm getting ready to start a new job on Washington, and I'll be taking the metrolink as I hate to drive. I'm wondering which of these two routes is more pedestrian friendly.

A.) Get off metrolink at union station and walk north on 18th street walk and walk east on washington
B.) Get off metrolink at Convention Center and walk west Washington

Option A looks a bit shorter, but I am not sure how pedestrian friendly 18th street is. Also is 18th street safe later at night?

Thanks for any advice

Depends on what block of Washington you will be working on. When I worked at 14th and wash, I would get off at civic center, from there it was about a 10 min walk. 18th st. Can feel creepy at night, fine during the day, 14th and wash Ave feel good day or night.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think about 14th street. That looks a bit closer than the convention center.

I agree. There's nothing super wrong with the 18th street route, and I've walked through Memorial Plaza many a time with no problems, but it's kind of a bum hang out which can be a little discomfitting. I had to laugh at one passed out in the Google Street View while construction crews are working away: http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com....ed=0CCIQ8gEwAA
