Hey all,
I'm moving to St. Louis next week and will be staying in a hotel while I look for an apartment or condo near the NGA building on S. 2nd St./Arsenal St.

Anyone have any ideas as to some good apartments or condos near this area? Is it a safe area?

Any advice for a first timer to St Louis....thanks. I'm coming from Texas.

I think you may like these apartments -- fun, young professional folks live here - and an easy commute to your work. West End City Apartments | St. Louis Apartments | Central West End

Excellent suggestion. Thank you. I forgot to mention I am 31, single, so not much baggage. Would like to keep a short commute to work, too.

I answered in your other thread! But I suggested Soulard, Benton Park, Lafayette Square, Shaw and Tower Grove South. Downtown would also be a good option. Loys of nice places in all of those neighborhoods.

How walkable do you want your neighborhood to be? Have you lived in a city before? If you share a bit more about exactly what you're looking for, we can offer even better suggestions!

I would zero in on Soulard, and pretty much anything right by the brewery is fine. South of the brewery can get a little squirrely. East of Broadway is nothing but shipping yards and warehouses. I would focus my attention on rentals north of Arsenal (north of Sindey for that matter), East of I-55, West of Broadway, and south of Russel. Easy walk to NGA.

I agree with Zach .. Soulard is convenient for a quick commute. Great neighborhood with lots of restaraunts and bars. A poperty management company in Soulard is Red Brick Management. They have tons of places. The heart of commercial Soulard is Russell - 9th to 12th. Areas south of there are more residential. The grocer is located on 12th street, but the Farmers Market is on 7th ... Personally I prefer the areas further from Broadway and closer to 12th street - just a preference.

Good luck on the move!

I'm not as skilled looking for apartments as aragx or glamatomic, and it depends on your budget and space needs of course, but any of these places would seem fine to me if I was a single 31 yo male...
