I would only refer to E, F, and G as West County

I was not raised here, but have been here for 11 years now. I generally use the highways to break the areas up into the 4 main categories: South Couty, West County, Mid County and North County. If you wanted to add NW and SW, you could modify the lines. 70 north is North County to me; 270 west, 70 south, and 44 north is West County to me; 44 south is South County to me; and inner 270, south of 70 and north of 44 is Mid County.

D. The Galleria

E. Chesterfield Mall

F. Manchester Rd.

G. Somewhere of 109?
E and G certainly.

F west of 270.

I never think 109 when I'm thinking West County, but that's only cause it's at the far reaches of West County. If you're on 100 and continue West passed 109 for only a few minutes, and you'll depart St. Louis County all together...so I guess it's at the edge. But the real "heart" of West County is contained in the Chesterfield/Ballwin.

Very interesting on everysones opinion. I think it depends on rather or not you were born in the city or not. The older folks have a more liberal definition of west county. Younger folks who grew up outside of 270 loop would never ever consider anything inside the 270 loop as west county-besides west county mall....

I'm curious as to when the term "West County" came into use. Was it in the late 50s or early 60s, or earlier? The time period would probably indicate the original boundary of what was considered West County. I grew up in the city and received my definition from my parents and neighbors: West County= Creve Couer, Town and Country, Chesterfield, Manchester, Ballwin, Ellisville, Wildwood. Pretty much anything with 75% of its development after 1960.
