I don't think it's fair to say that those videos are a fair representation of living in North County in general, although maybe they're a good depiction of life in Riverview (I've come across them before as the first house we were interested in was on the bluffs in Riverview- gorgeous house with great potential but needed too much work).

Although I can respect the video maker's right (I assume it's you) to make videos about the area- and I think that it's a positive thing that a lot of the problems in Riverview proper are being brought to light, I do resent the fact that you referred to it as getting a flavor of living in North County first and foremost.

I realize that North County has problems- I'm not blind, but not all areas of North County are 'bad' or suffer from the same rate of decline and lack of leadership as Riverview, Glasgow Village, Spanish Lake, etc. There are still some wonderful, affordable places to live in North County that too frequently get overlooked purely due to the whole North County stigma.

Overall though, I'm sorry that the Village of Riverview is experiencing the amount of problems you have depicted. There is actually some quite wonderful and unique housing stock hidden throughout the Village of Riverview and the decline over the past half century is heartbreaking, as is the lack of positive leadership.

Interesting. that junk yard car shop and the trash along Bluff seems pretty damned irresponsible. I looked at a house up on Lookaway several years back - I think it was 10225 Lookaway. I saw it on Gundaker and I just had to check it out in person. Amazing house, I'd guess it was built around 1930, looked like something right out of a nice part of U City or Clayton, but for 1/4 the price. Unfortunately, that block was a total island of niceness in an otherwise bleak looking area. That was the first (and last) time I saw that nearby Glasgow Village shopping center that was just demolished and the surrounding environs. The sight of that shopping center only a couple blocks away pretty much convinced me that the area was not worth considering. Boarded up buildings, overgrown lots, trash everywhere... I also saw a good number of homes with very well kept facades and nicely kept yards, but it seemed clear to me that they were losing the battle.
