Hello! I will be moving to St. Louis in 4-6 weeks and have determined the CWE is my best bet for using public transit/ being in a young professional area.

What streets / apartment complexes are located in fun areas!?

I'll have my buddy as a roommate so a 2BR WITH gated parking is needed.

Price range I'm hoping around $800-900.

I hope you guys can steer me towards a great place to live! I hope to be staying in this area for a year or two.

Welcome to my neighborhood!

The busiest and most "happening" part of the CWE is the southern part, roughly from Maryland Plaza southward. The main streets in that area are Maryland, Lindell, West Pine, Laclede, and Forest Park Ave and any cross-streets thereon. This is also closest to the MetroLink station.

A $900 price point for a 2br in the most expensive neighborhood in the city is pushing it, but you might want to check out The Carlton, The Monticello, The Fairmont, The Hawthorne, The President, West End Terrance, Park Royal, and Park East Apartments (but NOT the Park East Tower--that's a different building).

I also forgot to mention to check Craigslist for mom and pop places, but be aware that Craigslist tends to stretch the boundaries of the CWE a bit. The area you want to be in ideally is bounded roughly by Maryland to the north, Kingshighway to the west, Newstead to the east, and Forest Park Avenue to the south. Happy hunting!

Okay thanks! I got the sense they were stretching the limits of what the CWE really is! I made this thread after COUNTLESS map quest research lol.

Do you know if I will be able to take metro link to the Hill area from CWE? I am considering working at one of the restaurants there over summer.

Unfortunately the MetroLink doesn't go to the Hill. If you're carless and don't mind taking the bus then that could work. But there are a TON of restaurants in the CWE, Downtown, Clayton, and the Loop that are all Metro-accessible.

okay good to know! I'll have my car but really wish to not drive it that much. Thanks again, I'm going to start looking at the places you listed and that specific area. My biggest fear was being blocks away from anything fun lol.

Oh no, if you live in that part of the CWE you will definitely be within walking distance of a lot of fun places.
