Charlie Gitto's has food like "The Hill" but it is within walking distance of your hotel.

This sounds perfect--how far is the walk? Any particular dish you like?

As an option for brunch, head over to Rooster (11th & Locust). Fantastic food, good coffee, and very reasonably priced. Just had the German sausage and apples crepe last Saturday and will be back for more soon!

Here are directions from your hotel (assuming the Hampton Inn downtown): If walking or driving, take Washington west to 10th St. and turn left (south). Proceed to Locust St. and turn right. Go one block to 11th St. Address is 1104 Locust St., if you prefer to use Mapquest or Google.

Near the Arch - I've eaten at Morgan's Brewery and they severed very tasty, very heavy food. There was a sushi place that we wanted to try (the Drunken Fish) just down the street, but haven't heard anything one way or the other.

If you have a rental car, you might want to hop on the 55 (S) for a couple of exits - both Fraisers and Venice have received rave reviews.

Hi--I'm back from my trip. Just wanted to say thanks again for the great suggestions. Morgan's Brewery was excellent. I couldn't find Charlie Gitto's, but I did find a great steak place in the same general area.

My favorite part of the trip was visiting the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. What an incredible place. It's not everyday that you see crystal chandeliers and stained glass in a stable... and best of all they give away free beer.

I enjoyed St. Louis very much. You guys have a great city.

Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Future reference, Gitto's is pictured below, it's the shorter building in the middle next to the parking garage.
