In terms of the overall state, Georgia and Missouri are probably similar. Both states are conservative (again, mildly confused as to how that’s a bad thing since you yourself are “conservative”). But St. Louis and Atlanta are both liberal. Athens would be comparable to Columbia, MO, which is a liberal college town. It’s a very nice city of about 100,000 people. Missouri isn’t the worst place to be. There’s rednecks and racists, but avoiding rural Missouri pretty much makes that a nonissue.
