I’m supposed to go to school in St. Louis fall of 2021, and I’m nervous because I know that Missouri has a tarantula species

Does St. Louis have it?
If so, how do I keep them out of my house or apartment?

Southern Missouri does, but I have never seen one close to as far North as St Louis.

I've never seen them in StL. I have only seen one in Missouri, near Shoal Creek in Joplin. Looked harmless and it quickly scurried into the underbrush.

I've never seen one. IF they are around here, you'd have to be out on a hike in a wooded area to see one I imagine. I hike a lot and never have. https://www.stlzoo.org/animals/about...souritarantula

We have wolf spiders, which are similar.

The scorpions keep them under control. There might be a few in the Ozarks but I never saw one in 65 years.

I saw one once, in St. Charles, but that was like...40 yrs ago.

Be more concerned about Brown Recluses and Black Widows.

I'd take tarantulas off your list of concerns.

There are many others.

Honestly, tarantula's be least of your concerns on day-by-day basis in StL.

As others stated, brown recluse and black widows are MUCH more prevalent and unhealthy.

"Tarantulas are harmless to humans (except for a painful bite), and their mild venom is weaker than a typical bee's."

I have seen several in the Ozarks but scorpions are, to me, a bigger worry because they react faster and their sting is deadly. But, no, I've never seen one this far north. Could be out in the woods. Like black bears - let them alone and they'll let you alone. You might try googling Missouri Conservationist and ask your question there. You'll probably get a good article about them.
