Okay, a few of these won't technically be in the city limits, but they aren't too far for the city...also, my list will wander a bit but be shorter, as we were only there a year:

Fav Breakfast: Uncle Bill's
Fav Mexican: Chimichanga's
Fav Pizza: Racanelli's, CWE (was not impressed with the Loop location)
Fav Italian: Gian-Tony's or Lorenzo's Trattoria
Fav Deli: K.D. Poppa's (Clayton) - great soups!
Fav Sushi/Japanese: Wasabi (again, Clayton)

Fav Overall: Iron Barley (Virginia & Bates)
Fav Overall (high end): Franco (Soulard) & Revival (Choteau Ave) - you'll drop around a C-note for full meal w/wine & dessert (for 2), but WELL worth it!

Hey, I had driven past "La Pizza" a billion times in the past 20+ years just assuming it was another little hole in the wall pizza place (just across Old Bonhomme from the U. City Pasta House, for goodness sake!). But someone had posted about it here in this forum so we tried it out a few weeks ago. Wow, it really is good with a hearty crust, fresh tasting sauce, not so greasy and an excellent value too!! Their pies also reheat really well, which is more than you can say for many of the greasy chain pizzas. We are also going to go back and order a day in advance their deep dish Sicilian pizza and try that out since it sounds really good.

I actually preferred Racanelli's toppings and sauce to La Pizza...but to each their own, of course.

I also have to add that my favorite pizza in STL was actually the Chicago style from Black Thorn Pub...however, I always treated that as more of a special occasion eateing...can't do that ALL of the time. Racanelli's & LaPizza can be more of a weekly thing...I couldn't do Black Thorn more than every few months!
