I'm currently working 2 jobs. One is a retail job and the other is a job at a print shop. I'm currently in training at the print shop and if all goes well, I'm going to quit the retail job to work full time in printing.

I usually need a cup of chamomile tea at night to help me sleep better. Since I take public transportation to and from work, I'd like to save time and get some more sleep by drinking the chamomile during my commute home from my retail job at night. Do you think I'd still get the same benefits/effects of the chamomile tea if I had it refrigerated at work and drinking it cold on my way home, or if I microwaved it for a minute or two? Will it kill the ingredients or flavor that helps make me sleepy?

Brew the tea and cool it in the fridge, and drink it cold with a sprig of mint or a little fresh lemon squeezed into it. Microwaving will evaporate the essential oils, which are the "things" that make you drowsy when you drink it.

If you need to nuke, then nuke the water - and put the teabag into the hot water and then steep as usual, and drink it hot.

If you have time to nuke a cup of tea, then you have time to nuke the water and make fresh tea every time.

We're all kind of in a rush at the end of the shift and I know other employees will get annoyed if they have to wait for me to leave (It's after store hours). I don't want them to have to wait while I steep tea.

By the way, does the mint or fresh lemon just give it more flavor after being refrigerated? Does the tea have the same effects without them?

Again - if you have time to microwave tea, then you have time to microwave water.

Nuke the water, either in a spill-proof microwave-safe bottle, or in a mug.

Transfer the water into a spill-proof drinking bottle (or skip, if it's already in there).

Place the teabag, with the string hanging out, into the bottle.

Leave the office, taking the water-filled bottle with the teabag in it, with you.

By the time you get to the bus stop or out of the parking lot, your tea will be ready to drink. The only time you'll be taking, is the SAME amount of time you already said you would use, to nuke the tea, plus perhaps an extra 10 seconds to put the hot, nuked water into a travel mug.

Mint and lemon give it a nice flavor. That's all they do.
