When you say brain booster it appears you are talking about brain performance (as opposed to treating psychiatric conditions like depression etc).

Gingko Biloba extract was touted for some time as a brain "booster." (Mainly by the supplements companies selling it..)
A bunch of scientific studies have since been done and it appears to help in some areas but other claims were bogus. See this link from Mayo clinic which rated the evidence - if there's a B grade for that thing (eg dementia) then there is some good evidence it works:

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) Evidence - Mayo Clinic

See if what you want it for is a B grade.

Believe it or not, but in addition to it facilitating mitochondrial respiration as well as having potent anti-cancer properties, simple aspirin can facilitate learning.

See more details here for the science of this true wonder drug:

Eating Fish May Be Good for Brain Health

I can remember growing up that mom said eating fish being good for the brain and carrots for the eyes. Maybe something to those old folk non scientific wisdom.

I try to eat fish weekly. I've never seen it on TV and probably pharma behind some of the negative articles.
Taking Prevagen or eating jellyfish is not the same thing as eating fish. The main ingredient in Prevagen is apoaequorin, a protein first discovered in jellyfish, and now apparently produced synthetically by genetically modified bacteria. According to the company, apoaequorin can help protect brain cells by binding to excess calcium, which might otherwise damage or destroy the cells - noting that excess calcium can result in memory impairment. However, there do not appear to be any studies that show apoaequorin, when taken orally, reaches the brain, or binds to enough excess calcium to reduce the risk of brain cell damage. You really would have to know what you are looking at and specifically research that particular product. What one person needs might be different than another. For example, one person might need to boost certain neurotransmitters or to increase types of choline so this product might help: DRB-00214 | Doctor's Best Vitamins, but perhaps another needs to increase blood circulation and needs ginkgo. There are a zillion supplements out there that will claim to help so you have research to do, and then if you try something, start slow and you might even want to keep a diary of how you are responding.

Brain boosters that work and are safe:

Playing an instrument
Working jigsaw puzzles
Reading books
Playing board games
Working crossword or other word puzzles
Sudoku and other math puzzles
Talking to people. Real people. Face to face - not on Fakebook, not texting.
Listening to music - different KINDS of music, not just one sort. Variety matters.

There is no magic Smart Pill. You have to DO things.

Totally agree, and it is part of our "aging plan." DH still works so he gets his brained used a lot, but I'm home so I am an avid WWF player (), listen to classes on different subjects, and learn a lot of new software (video editing, Photoshop and Lightroom).

As soon as DH retires we are taking up a new language, and stuff like that.

Good list. Ginko is said to help if the problem is blood circulation in the brain. You have to figure out the problem. Keeping your mind active can help some people but many still go on to develop dementia anyway.

I know I already commented on the usefulness of aspirin as a "brain booster", however, I thought I would post some follow up science behind the usefulness of aspirin for this purpose:

https://www.omicsonline.org/open-acc...82-1000427.pdf

https://www.alzinfo.org/articles/low...benefit-brain/

Aspirin may reduce Alzheimer's disease risk, study suggests | Fox News

This is just a tiny sampling of the research out there that is very supportive of aspirin's role in supporting brain health and performance.

The exciting thing for aspirin in this role is that unlike many other supposed brain-"boosting" substances that have little-to-no research or basis in replicated science, aspirin has legion of data supporting its role and usefulness for brain health. When taking that into consideration, along with aspirin's many other healthful benefits (such as combatting cancers, heart disease, and body fat among many others) and its supreme accessibility and affordability, aspirin really can make a major contribution in support of brain functioning and health.

For me I believe the grape seed extract is helping to keep my brain/memory healthy as I've passed 79 yrs. Circulation from head to toes.
