Lmethyfolate (doctor, symptoms, dosage, side effects)

i have been doing some research the past couple days and have not been able to find out exactly what im looking for. im a 32 year old male..my doctor prescribed me 15mg of lmethyfolate and i seem to have some issues when taking it.i keep getting other meds for the side effects and tired of all these medications.

i looked at my lab results and it shows mine as follow.

folte serum
>19.9 ng/ml ref >3

i get the feeling i dont need to be taking this high of a dosage if at all.i do know when my testing was done.they put me under as female.so i think the dox read it that way..i was told they contacted the lab to have the readings converted over as a male but i am only able to read it from the first result as a female.

You don't mention why you are taking it. I take it and I buy the 1000 mcg from Life Extension. It's called Optimized Folate. 15mg is a High Dose. I believe Pharma sells a drug, Deplin, which comes in 15mg dose and a person on another group finally found it for a lifelong stubborn depression and she's got the mutation which is talked about with this folate.

oh yes, sorry. i do have the mutation.i guess my body cant produce it or destroys it.im not exactly sure how to read everything and understand why it take it exactly.i was told its to help aid my fluoxetine.but to me, that dosage even seems high and considering i had 19.9 during a test long before i started delpin.just doesnt seem rite.to be honest, i seem to feel worse when taking itnin the fact i have some of the symptoms i didnt know it could cause and only started when i started deplin.

yes its long term from my understanding.id say for many years if not for the remainder of my life.
