Once again another study confirming that Red Wine and specifically a Polyphenol compund in it known as Resveratrol has a powerful effect on the Genes that regulate aging in our trillions of cells. Resveratrol has an unique ability to mimic ''Dietary Restriction'' in the cells in reversing age related decline as we get older.
Interesting that Jean Calment the oldest person ever to live at 122 years (1875-1997) drank a glass a day since she was 15 years old.

I also notice that on this link there is another link to an article about the variances in wines of resveratrol. This is worth the reading. Personally I don't really like the red wine but have made myself take it like medicine off and on. I do eat a lot of red grapes. It is reported in the link that the skins of the red grape is the source of resveratrol.
Yes, eating grapes will give you the same benefit. I believe that Grape Juice will do it too. I find it interesting that the studies (this is not the first one on resveratrol) always focus on wine.

I'm thinking that it's more concentrated in Wine. Maybe it's the fermenting process but i'm just guessing?? It's also in Peanuts, Cranberries and Blueberries.
I will suggest organic wine.
Grapes are one of the produce that are very heavily sprayed/treated with insecticide and pesticide.
If you can't afford to eat all organic, it's a good idea to learn which fruits and vegetables are the most heavily "treated" and buy them organic.

Any recommendations on a Dry Organic Red Wine Rubyskye....as i've never had Organic Wine before.
Japanese Knotweed has it too. I recently got some liquid supplements from Vitacost that has resveratrol in it. For those of you who don't want to drink wine or eat grapes.
I've been taking grapeseed extract with resveratrol for about 9 months. Since then, my blood pressure has normalized. I can't say for certain that it's due to the grapeseed/resveratrol, but I think it is.
The antioxidant resveratrol, found in grape skins and red wine, can cripple the function of pancreatic cancer cells while sensitising them to chemotherapy, says new research. Resveratrol is known for its ability to protect plants from bacteria and fungi, while previous research has also found it helps prevent the negative effects of high-calorie diets and has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer potential.
While this study, published this month in Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology, looked at the way the antioxidant may aid pancreatic cancer treatment, it also contributes to the growing knowledge on the health benefits arising from ingredients of red wine.
