Hello! We are moving to Manlius in a few months and have narrowed our search to the Enders Rd/Eagle Hill area. I am seeing homes in Pompey for sale that have lower taxes but look to be in this school district. Is Pompey a separate town with the same zip code as Manlius? Please explain.... Thanks so much!!!! : )

Yes, a portion of the Town of Pompey is in the Fayetteville-Manlius SD and has the same zip code(13104) as Manlius, where PO is located.

Hello seaglassmomma,

The Enders Rd/Eagle Hill area is a very nice suburban area of excellent homes at Manlius zip 13104.

There is a TOWNSHIP OF MANLIUS and there is a TOWNSHIP OF POMPEY. They are two separate >>TOWNSHIPS<< that have their own separate TOWNSHIP Governments. And there is a VILLAGE OF MANLIUS with their VILLAGE government. As another separate example, THE TOWNSHIP OF CICERO has several settlements/"villages" and zip codes within its' TOWNSHIP: Cicero area zip code 13039, Bridgeport area zip 13030, Brewerton area 13029, North Syracuse area 13212, part of East Syracuse area 13057, and part of Kirkville area 13082; all zip code AREAS delivering mail to parts of the TOWNSHIP OF CICERO.

I believe that children in parts of the TOWNSHIP OF POMPEY (NOT the Hamlet-NOT the tiny Pompey settlement) do attend Fayetteville-Manlius School District. Children who live in other parts of the TOWNSHIP OF POMPEY may attend Fabius-Pompey School District or MAYBE attend Cazenovia Schools or Jamesville-Dewitt schools; not positive about school district borders.

A large north portion of the TOWNSHIP OF POMPEY has a Manlius area postal zip code 13104, another portion has a Jamesville area zip code 13078, a large southern portion has a Fabius area zip code 13063, a western slice has a LaFayette area zip code 13084, and lastly people can have a Pompey-(Hamlet) Post Office >BOX< with a zip code 13138; there's also a very small slice with a Cazenovia area zip code 13035. Many TOWNSHIPS (I don't mean Villages/Hamlets/Towns) do have OTHER VILLAGES/HAMLETS/AREAS in their TOWNSHIP with their own distinct zip codes. For instance, other zip codes IN the TOWNSHIP OF MANLIUS (NOT MANLIUS VILLAGE) ARE: Fayetteville area zip 13066, East Syracuse area 13057, Kirkville area 13082, Minoa village 13116, and a small slice of the Chittenango area 13037 .

Notice that Post Office zip code DELIVERY/coverage areas can cross TOWNSHIP borders. For instance the East Syracuse AREA Post Office zip code covers mail delivery to parts of the TOWNSHIPS of Manlius & Dewitt & Cicero.

The TOWNSHIP OF POMPEY, for the most part, is High Hill rural countryside land; far higher above Syracuse city and the other suburbs-some land with beautiful views across the Central New York region. In recent years many new large scale style homes have/are being built many times on 3 to 5 acre properties. Of course there are other new homes built on smaller properties and there are older homes from the past in the TOWNSHIP also.

I hope that my explanation of the above zip codes and TOWNSHIP designation vs. VILLAGE/HAMLET/TOWN designation may have cleared-up your questions on those subjects. When a realtor shows you any property, they can tell you which school district children attend and the appropriate ZIP CODE for the property you are visiting. Best of luck to you. Welcome to Metro Syracuse.

There's a nice house that came up for sale on our street (off of Glen Eagle Dr. which is off of Enders Rd.) Did you look at that one yet? I haven't been inside but it seems to be priced well and looks good from the outside.
